7 Things to Know This Christmas Season

7 Things to Know This Christmas Season

I was recently jolted by Paul’s words in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” What a great promise and prayer for us to bless others with this time of year. Our city and world desperately need to see followers of Jesus “abounding in hope.” What joy to know that we serve the God of hope.

We hope to see you at one of our Christmas Eve Services in Aspen at the Wheeler Opera House (5pm and 7pm) or in Glenwood Springs (4pm). Our theme this year is HOPE. I encourage you to invite your friends to join you at the Wheeler.

I know it is a busy time of year, but please take some time to read about the exciting things going on in your church family.

New Church Plant in Houston, Texas
We are very excited about our new church plant in Houston, Texas. Under the leadership of Brent Phillips and a great team of leaders, Sandbox Church began Sunday morning meetings this past fall. It will publically launch sometime the first quarter of 2017. Our leadership team here at Crossroads is working closely with the Sandbox team to build the church and develop our partnership so we can join together and plant more churches for the kingdom. We are excited for you to meet the folks from Sandbox as they will be joining us January 27-29th for our annual G3 Gathering here in Aspen.

Annual G3 Gathering
Save the dates – Friday January 27 through Sunday the 29th when we will host our 3rd Annual G3 Gathering (G3 = Grace, Growth & Greater Things)! We have some great speakers and worship leaders coming in this year as we learn more deeply about three key areas: Hearing God & Prophesy, fullness of the Spirit, and Healing. Leaders and members from Crossroads Glenwood and Sandbox Church Houston will gather with us for this time as well as other friends from around the country. This gathering is open to anyone, not just current leadership. We hope you will come and have the flame of spiritual leadership come alive within you.

We need your help church! We need to host our friends from Sandbox for this time together. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to practice the gift of hospitality and host some people in your home over the weekend. It will mean opening your home to our guests and making them comfortable. They will spend most of their time at the church in our various meetings but you will be blessed to have some interaction time with them if you wish when they are on break. Personally, I have loved getting to know some of the Sandbox family and I know you will be blessed if you sign up to be a host. Please call Maidy at 970-925-7828 and let her know if you can host or email her at maidy@ccaspen.com.

The G3 Gathering will kick off Friday night Jan. 27 with gatherings Saturday morning and Saturday evening. It will conclude Sunday morning. All sessions will be at Crossroads Aspen. We will be sending out more details very soon.

2017 Re:gen and e4 Classes
Starting Wednesday, February 1, 2017 we begin our second year of Re:generation (Re:gen) along with our e4 equipping classes. Wednesday nights are our primary equipping time. From 6pm-8pm every Wednesday night, our e4 equipping classes are held in the Sanctuary and in the Fireplace Room. Re:gen classes will continue to be held upstairs and our middle school ministry, XGT, will be held in the basement. Check the website for more information.

Our two-year e4 Global Equipping Schoolschedule is set up so all four classes can be taken within two years:

Winter 2017
e4 Holy Spirit class (year 1, class 2)
e4 Leadership Development class (year 2, class 2)

Fall 2017
e4 Faith and Power class (year 1, class 1)
e4 Healing and Deliverance class (year 2, class 1)

These classes are nine weeks long meeting every Wednesday night from 6-8pm. We encourage you to pray about making some margin in your schedule to get equipped!

Children’s Ministry Staff Changes
While we are sad to see Kyle and Sarah Taylor (our former Children’s Ministry Director) move to Fort Collins this past summer, we are very excited to have now hired Brian Matthew as our new Children’s Ministry Director. Welcome Brian!

Brian and his wife Amanda have been faithfully serving in our Next Generation Ministry (cradle to college) for the last several years. Most recently Brian was serving last year as our High School Intern. We have also changed this from a part-time position to a full-time position and we are so encouraged by the passion and vision he has for this role.

We have some exciting new opportunities for parents coming in the New Year. Stay tuned for more info soon.

Giving & Financial Update
God has blessed our Church and we are grateful to be able to operate without any debt. We have a simple budget but a big vision for impact. As always, if you have detail questions about our budget please contact Bob Brining at 970-925-6481.

We encourage you to evaluate your giving this past year and pray about being a regular giver to the Crossroads Church family if you are not already. It is God’s design that God’s people show their devotion to Him by supporting His Church with their regular tithes and offerings. A healthy church is a church where its regular attenders give regularly and sacrificially to the community that they are a part of.

So, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope,” (Romans 15:13) this Christmas season and into the New Year.

Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year,

Steve Woodrow
Directional Pastor
