At Crossroads, we’re excited to talk about who we are and what God is leading us to. Below are some frequently asked questions and what to expect. Better yet, we encourage you to connect personally with people on our Leadership Teams to learn more.
A Simply Christian Church: We are a non-denominational Christian church that believes God invites each one of us to experience a personal, loving and fulfilling relationship with the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.
Come as you are; dress as you like. Services at Crossroads are very casual. In the summer many come in shorts, ready to hike after the service and in the winter ski wear is common as many will hit the slopes following the service. Our services are a combination of Welcome, Music, Offering, Message, Communion and Connecting Point.
We also take a brief moment to welcome our visitors, direct everyone to the web-site for important announcements, highlight one or two of them and on occasion, let someone take a few minutes to share something big God has recently done in their life.
We will not ask any of our visitors to stand and identify themselves as some churches choose to do. It is not that we don’t care. We just realize that would make some of us very uncomfortable, and maybe you as well. Rather, we would love to personally meet you after the service in a more casual setting.
We begin each service with several worship songs led by our worship team. You can expect a combination of songs ranging from upbeat, to intimate, to hymns, often arranged in various genres, using acoustic and electric guitars, electric or classical bass, piano, Hammond B3 organ and drums.
Usually before the message, we pray for and give our regulars the opportunity to worship God through their giving. For our new visitors and those just checking out our church we do not expect you to give unless God has put it on your heart to do so. Instead feel free to offer us a completed Connecting Card which you will find in the seat back in front of you. On this card you can tell us how you found the church (which always helps us recognize the most helpful resources for letting people know about Crossroads), request information about a specific area or ministry of the church, request a call from one of our pastors, share any prayer requests for our prayer team to pray over and tell us how we are doing. We always love to hear feedback so that we can make our services the best experience that we can.
Messages are given by one of teaching pastors, usually Steve Woodrow, or every so often, a guest speaker. Each message by Steve, or one of our other teaching pastors, is typically a part of a larger series where we are covering a certain topic or book of the Bible.
You can watch our services live via our internet Live Broadcast. Also, previous messages are available to watch and/or listen to via our Media page. Instructions are provided on how to download messages, as well as, providing the link to join our podcast of the messages.
We offer communion at each of our services. While not every church practices weekly communion, we feel this sacrament provides a time to remember God for His love and the sacrifice Jesus offered on our bahalf. It also provides a time to respond to the message and, perhaps, an opportunity to recommit one’s heart to Him, if we have strayed.
Communion is clearly an act of faith for those who have placed their life and eternal destination into the forgiving hands of Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins and offers believers new life empowered by the Holy Spirit, who comes to live in each Christian’s heart upon their profession of faith in Christ.
The Bible also teaches us that we should never take communion if we have unconfessed sin in our life or if we have a grievance with another member of Christ’s family. We should first go and resolve the conflict with that person, even if it means waiting another week to take communion (please see 1Corinthians 11).
Between each service, we host Connecting Point where we offer free coffee and tea and snacks along with a coffee bar where you can purchase lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, milk chocolate and breakfast burritos. This is a great time to simply converse with others from our church in a very informal setting. Also, feel free to take your coffee into the sanctuary as we start worship. We only ask that you be careful to not spill it on the carpet and to make sure you clean up after yourself.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our services in the near future!
Crossroads is an independent non-denominational Christian church led by our Directional Team each of whom meets the Biblical qualifications of elder.
