Global VisionPartnershipsShort-Term TripsGospel Movements
Our purpose is to bring the hope, power and love of God to the hurting, desolate and broken through strategic services and Christ-centered communities both locally and globally. We are involved in equipping the body and individuals through the coordination of long and short term trips, training, and one on one discipleship. It is our goal to provide numerous opportunities for every member to experience God in a fresh and amazing way while serving and giving to others. We are constantly advancing in our partnerships with individuals who have answered God’s call to impact those near and far and are committed to their success through financial, spiritual and physical support.

Rick & Colleen
Rick and Colleen have been Roaring Fork Valley residents since 1988, met at Crossroads Church in 2000 and were married at Crossroads in 2006. They have been involved with the Crossroads Church of Aspen mission committee, now referred to as GPSG (Global Vision, Partnerships, Short-Term Trips, Gospel Movements), for over a decade. They have had the privilege to be involved in community development, disciple making, church planting and spreading the Kingdom in Colorado, Mexico, Haiti, North Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia and Central/South West Asia. After having lived most recently in Afghanistan and Pakistan they are still involved with organizations, churches and individuals in those countries. “There is nothing like talking with people who have never met a Christian and have never been introduced to the person of Jesus”, say Rick and Colleen. “It is wonderful to open the doors of communication with those whose hearts God has prepared.” They are currently exploring opportunities to move back to the field full time. The main focus of their ministry is to share the Gospel and make disciples among the unreached people groups of the world. They are working with Frontiers as Regional Strategic Coordinators, “head hunting” for workers from around the world who have the appropriate skills, experience, abilities and gifts to join teams in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran.
Along with others who have God’s heart for the world, they oversee the operation of GPSG, involving the ministry of partners in Lebanon, Rwanda, Haiti, United Kingdom, Sweden, Indonesia, California, and the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado. Crossroads is truly an Acts 1:8 Church: “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” They also teach on Great Commission related topics at Crossroads Church and other churches around the country.

Gary & Laurie Scheer
Gary has been training church leaders in Rwanda since 1979. He and his wife Laurie have three grown children and an ever-increasing number of grandchildren. Gary was one of the original founders of NCM, and his burden for transformational discipleship of church leaders has become the DNA of the organization.
More on the Sheers ministry in Rwanda.
Gary was born and raised in Colorado, loving the Rockies, skiing, climbing the state’s 14,000 foot peaks. He committed his life to Christ, asking Him to take the wheel, at the University of Denver while studying to be an accountant (thank you Don Orvis!). He met Laurie Waite on their way to the Denver Seminary, to share their stories of coming to know and love Jesus with the students. Gary and Laurie got married at Galilee Baptist Church in Denver after graduation – and Gary had to work at the dorm the next day! After the University of Denver, Gary went to Denver Seminary simply because he wanted to know the Bible better than anything else. They were originally appointed by their mission to go to Pakistan, not Rwanda! They’ve lived in Rwanda since 1979 training leaders for the Rwandan churches. Gary enjoys running, bird watching, climbing mountains, biking, reading, AND being a grandfather!
Laurie was a California girl — can you tell?. She moved to Denver after high school and studied psychology at the University of Denver. Laurie was just about to be baptized into the Mormon church when she committed her life to Christ. Later, after she met Gary, he told her that in those days he had been praying for “some girl named Laurie.” After DU Laurie taught in a private school for kids with special needs. She put hubby through seminary making $500/month! Laurie never wanted to go to Africa! It was a struggle to accept the idea of living overseas as a missionary. It was seeing anew what Jesus did for us on the Cross that made her want to live completely for Him. She gave birth to Matthew in Rwanda — costing all of $2.00! She has now lived and worked in Rwanda since 1979. Laurie enjoys cooking (a good thing, since most cooking in Rwanda is done from scratch), reading, walking and praying with her best friend, AND being a grandmother!
Mazhar & Christine Mallouhi
Mazhar was born into a Muslim family in Syria and before he began following Jesus. He experienced rejection and persecution. He persevered eventually finding more honoring ways to ways to share his faith within his Muslim community, especially as an author. For several decades he has also been actively involved in outreach with his Australian wife Christine who is also an author. They lived in a number of countries across the Middle East and North Africa where they raised their children.
They founded the AL KALIMA association which publishes Mazhar’s novels and other books through one of the largest Arab secular publishing houses which distributes to 23 Arab countries. See www.al-kalima.com Al Kalima has been making a difference in the Arab world since 1998 producing Bible translations and commentaries appreciated and endorsed by leading Muslims. They have distributed hundreds of thousands of books. Many have been sold in local bookshops giving people the chance to access Scriptures in most Arab countries. Others have been given away free or placed officially in public libraries. Their mission is to put the Word of God into the hands of Arabs by publishing books which appeal to Muslim readers through major secular Arab publishing houses in co-operation with Muslims. Their goal is to build bridges of understanding between Christians and Muslims, transforming attitudes to the Bible and seeing books which explain the Bible in public libraries and bookshops become a normal event. Mazhar and Christine have been partners of the Crossroads family since the 1970s and were married here. Their current home is both Lebanon and Australia. They have two adult sons and six grandchildren.
