I am writing this vision update as I prepare to leave this week for India to visit Rick and Colleen. Bob Brining and I will join them as they train Muslim background believers (MBB) to plant and lead churches in their Muslim neighborhoods. We will also meet with several other pastors and leaders to see best how we can continue to partner in India for the equipping and planting of healthy churches that specifically reach out to the unreached growing Muslim population. It is very exciting what is happening there and we look forward to bringing back a great report. We must remember that nothing truly changes until people’s hearts are changed by the love of Jesus, and that He has called us into His mission for the world, even to the ends of the earth. (Act 1:8) Please be praying for us and India!
G3 Partnership Update
Those of you who were able to attend our annual G3 Gathering last month know that we have expanded our church planting vision to plant and partner with Sandbox Church in Houston, Texas. We are so excited for Brent and Daniella Phillips and the amazing team from Houston. We will send a small leadership team down to Houston once a quarter to do e4 training with their leadership team. Also, Brent is leading 50, that’s right 50, people to South Africa in June to minister alongside our old friends at North Point Church in Jo’berg.
Great things are happening at Crossroads Glenwood. Meshell and I had the great privilege to be with Tim and Marina and their leadership team in January for a Leadership Advance. Our Glenwood family is growing and I highly encourage you to go visit them and worship with them on a Sunday night. They meet at the Glenwood Library every Sunday at 5pm. They are currently praying for a new larger meeting space and stepping into more of the vision that God has given them to reach the Glenwood community.
I am thrilled to let you know about all of our elders-in-training in all three churches. These are men who have been identified within the church who have been faithfully serving and leading and who meet the biblical qualifications of elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9). This year they join with the active elders in a year of training. At the end of the year there is a process by which they will be commissioned into active service. We (active elders) are putting these men before the church as potential elder shepherds for you to get to know. The whole church is responsible for getting to know them and ask any questions about their calling for this role and to let current leadership know if there are any issues that should be brought to our attention. Their spouses are a vital part of this important calling. Though the spouse does not hold the office they are intimately involved in the leadership and direction of the church. During this time the ladies will gather together with the other elder spouses for fellowship and discussion about this year’s process. A healthy church has healthy leadership couples and singles. It is our commitment to provide a healthy ministry atmosphere for the healing, development, and mobilization of new married and single leaders.
So here are our elders-in-training for 2017:
Dan Kail (Kristen)
Eric Mangelson (Allison)
John Anderson (Megan)
Gary Littell (Amanda)
Sandbox Church Houston:
Kurt Cox (Kim)
Brian Crawford (Mallory)
Scott Dossey (Jessica)
Frank Danna (Megan)
Brent Phillips (Daniella)
Joe Rodriquez (Maria)
Jamian Sims (Kaleha)
Thanks to your regular and over and above giving we were able to finish the year in a good financial position. We encourage everyone to seek the Lord and what His Word says about giving and supporting the Body. If you are a part of Crossroads Aspen, Crossroads Glenwood, or Sandbox Houston we encourage you to become a regular giver and support our growing church body with your finances as well as with your time and unique gifts. If you want more information about giving please refer to my blog titled “More Blessed” which you can find here.
As always, we would love to hear from you. If you have any questions or thoughts please let us know.
