“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10-11). I hope the Good News of Jesus is like a Christmas present that is getting bigger and more amazing every year for you!
Join us for Christmas Eve Services at Crossroads Church, December 24th at 4pm,6pm and 8pm. The Wheeler Opera House is under construction and will not be ready for us to use this year, so we will be doing three services at the church. We will also hold a Christmas Eve celebration for the first time in Glenwood at 5pm. We encourage you to invite your family and friends. We are going to have a great time of celebration together.
I know this is a busy time of year and that we all get many emails, but I hope you will take some time to read and pray though this update so you can be encouraged and aware of our needs.
As of the beginning of December our giving is down resulting in a negative $164,000 in the general fund for 2015. Please take some time to review your giving and pray about helping us close this gap.
We are very blessed to have no debt, so that all tithes and offerings go directly to ministry needs. We take very seriously our stewardship of the church’s resources and being a church family that understands the responsibility and blessing of tithing and giving.
I rejoice as I hear stories of people serving and giving to the needs of one another and even sacrificial giving to others. God’s blessings are amazing for those who joyfully give from the heart according to God’s Word.
Crossroads Glenwood Church Plant Growth
Very exciting things are happening at Crossroads Glenwood under the leadership of Tim and Marina O’Keefe. Weekly Sundayevenings services were started this year and they have already had to move to a larger location. Multiple life groups and discipleship groups have birthed and a great team of builders has come together to love and serve the city through Crossroads Glenwood. For more details contact Tim at email@example.com or www.ccglenwood.com.
G3 Leadership Conference & Inspire Song Conference
Coming Spring of 2016 we will be hosting a very exciting national worship and song writing conference where some of the best in the industry along with our friend Matthew West will be here. For more information visit inspiresong.com or contact Derek Brown at Derek@ccaspen.com. This will also kick off our 2nd annual G3 Church leadership conference and help fulfill our Worship-Equipping-Partnership vision.
HD Living: Spiritual Clarity and Power through Spiritual Disciplines
This is our new sermon series we will be kicking off in the beginning of January 2016.
Most of us know what it is like to feel physically flabby and how hard it sometimes is to get up off the couch and get disciplined to do something about it. Being spiritually flabby is subtle and even more dangerous. Most of us are not content with our spiritual life and are aware that we are spiritually flabby, but struggle to know what to do about it. The spiritual routine we fell into is just not producing results that make it worth continuing the routine. We need to replace the routine with spiritual discipline that has vision. In 1 Timothy 4:7-8, Paul coaches Timothy,
“Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”
None of us could have imagined the quality and clarity of watching HDTV, but when we saw it we were amazed and we never wanted to go back. It is just like this when we get a taste of the newness of life we have in Christ – we want more! In this new series, HD Living, we will be exploring how to get out of the routine and grow in godliness through practicing different spiritual disciplines, which help us experience the fruit of the Spirit and ministry by the gifts of the Spirit. It is about becoming like Jesus, which is the ultimate HD Living.
We encourage you to join us in the month of January where we are going to join together as a church family and practice the spiritual discipline of “fasting” so we can:
• Increase in intimacy with God (Matthew 9:14-15)
• Grow in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-26)
• Come into spiritual gifts to build others up in the faith (Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12-14)
• Get miraculous breakthrough where it is needed (Matthew 7:7-11)
A biblical “fast” as practiced in the New Testament is from sun up to sun down, drinking only water during the day. We encourage you to join the Directional Team each Monday from 12 – 1pm at the church for prayer during this “fasting” time in the month of January. We will focus on one of the four goals above each of the four Mondays of January. For more information refer to www.ccaspen.com.
I hope to see you here Christmas Eve at 4pm, 6pm or 8pm at Crossroads Aspen or at 5pm at Caribe Grille in Glenwood.
Merry Christmas and Grace, Growth & Greater Things for 2015,
